OS MUTANTES Announce US Tour Dates

Posted 07/24/2009

Os Mutantes have announced a tour of North America in support of their startling new album "Haih or Amortecedor." Seeing the legendary "Tropicália" band live is something Kurt Cobain could have only wished for when he pleaded (unsuccessfully) for them to reunite and tour with Nirvana. Now Brazils' beloved Mutantes, long regarded as one of the most influential and innovative bands in pop music, have returned with both an ambitious new album and a series of highly anticipated performances. Revered by musical luminaries including Beck, Devendra Banhart, David Byrne, Of Montréal, The Flaming Lips and Cobain, the reunited Mutantes offer something far more intriguing than mere psychedelic nostalgia. While the ingenious genre blending Tropicália spirit remains intact on "Haih or Amortecedor", it's clear the Mutantes are not looking to the past, but ahead into further uncharted musical terrain.

Farewell To Release Sophomore Album On Sept 1

Posted 07/16/2009

North Carolina's pop-rock group Farewell will release their electrifying sophomore album, Run It Up The Flagpole, on Sept. 1 via Epitaph Records. The band has posted the first single, "Devoid (That's What I Think About It)." Fans will surely stand at attention to Farewell's trademark catchy tunes on this follow-up to their 2007 debut, Isn't This Supposed to be Fun? But instead of just jamming to memorable hooks, the lyrics of this album reflect an added depth to the pop-rock façade. "We've always been a poppy band that's easy on the ears," Davis says. "With this record, we wanted to put more content in there. So while you're bouncing around, you'll suddenly be like, ‘Oh crap, did he just say that? I hadn't thought of that!'"
have no idea!"

BAD RELIGION 21st Century Digital Boy - Leg Lifters 22nd Century Analog Caveman

Posted 07/14/2009

"Consistently defining, trashing and redefining the happy go-between for rock music and endless creativity, Justin Pearson and Nathan Joyner (two-thirds of All Leather, not to mention countless others) are Leg Lifters, a project based on continuing that quest, but in the vein of remixing other songs rather than leafing through their own playbooks. The boys have just wrapped up a remix of Bad Religion's seminal "21st Century Digital Boy", turning the California straight-ahead aggro-punk godfathers' anthem into a full-on Locust affair, complete with digital hiccups, slayed vocals and terrifying production. Check out the tune on the boys' MySpace page." Dowload the song!

Vans Skate Team Snatching Pages In This Month's Thrasher

Posted 07/09/2009

TNT, Alex Olson, AVE, Keegan Sauder, Andrew Allen, and the Lutheran brothers... Anywhere we go with these guys there's bound to be mayhem! This time around Albuquerque, New Mexico was the destination and thanks to the Lutheran brothers donating spots, we had a great trip, as evidence in the mag! Also, in celebration of Chima Ferguson's first Thrasher interview, his Vans teammate Dustin Dollin took the reins. "It was all a dream," with the Notorious B.I.G. inspired Dustin's interview techniques which made for a good read... and Chima's photos speak louder than Dustin, if that's possible. Can't wait 'til Chima's visa comes through. We love this August issue!

Shoot Yourself With Dustin Dollin

Posted 07/07/2009

There have been multiple sightings of our favorite pile, Dustin Dollin, on the streets on West Coast and the East Coast. He's been all over LA and was spotted on the boardwalk in Venice Beach, on Melrose down the block from Brooklyn Projects, and around the corner from Hollywood High. Up north, Dustin was spotted by the Berkeley Park, down the block from Huf, and, not suprisingly, in the Mission. Then we started getting calls from New York, where Dustin was seen laid out up the block from Supreme, lounging by the TF, and barely able to crawl into The Fish. We just got a call from Amy at KC/DC that Dustin's passed out by the train station in Williamsburg. We're really psyched to have Dustin in the US, but we need some evidence that he was here this summer! If you're game, track down Dustin, shoot a photo of you and Dustin and send it into shootyourselfwithdustin@gmail.com.
