A big congrats goes out to Vans Surf Team rider Leila Hurst who not only held down the competition, but took first at the ASP Women's World Junior in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil yesterday. “It was my first time in a World Junior Final and it might be my last year, so I’m so excited,” Hurst said. “I feel so blessed to be in Brazil. Everyone has been so nice and I’m just really excited. Australia is next, so who knows! Normally I get so stressed out at contests, but I just tried to relax and have fun.”

The 14-day holding period of the $85,000 HIC PRO, presented by Vans, opens today at Sunset Beach. Organizers have elected to call a lay day today in preparation for a solid new swell that is forecast for Monday and Tuesday. The HIC PRO is a 4-Star ASP men's event that will decide the 2011 ASP Hawaii regional champion and reward him with one highly coveted berth into the first two events of the Vans Triple Crown, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink, Nov.12 - Dec.20. The HIC PRO requires three full days of competition to crown a champion.

With less than four weeks until the start of the 2011 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink gets underway, the official website is live. The 29th annual Vans Triple Crown of Surfing will run from November 12th through December 20th along Oahu's North Shore during its famous big wave winter season.
Winter waves are pulsing onto Oahu's North Shore with regularity, signaling that the world renowned big wave Hawaiian surf season is upon us. The HIC Pro at Sunset Beach - the precursor to the annual Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink - will kick-start the season, running October 28th through November 10th on the best three days of surf.
Vans Monster Energy Kawasaki athlete Ryan Villopoto killed it in this past weekend's big money race, "The Monster Energy Cup" and took home the whopping $1 million dollar purse that was out for grabs after dominating all three main event races! Ryan's starts were on point as he was able to knab two out of three starts in each main the third and final main he had some pressure once the gate dropped. Mike Allesi was the one that jump out front, but RV was right on his rear fender holding it wide open to make a pass in one of the tracks back sections. Villopoto lead the rest of the main event with a twelve second lead over second place and cruised to the checkered flag for his Million Dollar pay check!
What could be considered one of the craziest contests in BMX history, Vans riders left their mark on Dew Tour history this weekend at the finals in Las Vegas, Nevada. Park phenom and Vans team rider, Scotty Cranmer pulled his dream-run and overtook Vans rookie pro Kyle Baldock for the contest and Dew Cup win with long list of futuristic tricks. Cranmer has several X Games Gold Medals, but has never clinched a Dew Cup Title- until now. He was also awarded the Powerbar Performance of the Year for his corked 720 and backflip double whip down the step-down.

Oceanside, CA will be home to the California Surf Festival this Thursday, October 13th through Sunday, October 16th. Vans' first ever surf film, Get-N Classic (available for download now) will be a part of the festival! Saturday at 5pm there will be a screening of the film.
